Every airline that has made its foray into the low cost domestic sector of India has faced challenges that have tested the grit and efficiency of the enterprise to the core. SpiceJet Airlines too has had its share of fights and it is still in a constant struggle for market share as well as other winnings in order to prove its worth in the Indian aviation segment. If numbers are anything to go by, the airline is certainly succeeding too! The results for the first quarter of the year 2013 have indeed brought great news for the airline.

In a market where airlines are struggling to even stay afloat, SpiceJet Airlines proves to be a player that is not only afloat financially but is also flying high. The last year or so has not always brought great news to the Indian aviation sector and the wrapping up of operations of Kingfisher Airlines indeed came as a shocker to many. This was also a wakeup call for the airlines in the market who knew that is they adopted even the least bit of lethargy in operations, they too could end up the same way! Airlines have understood that the airline business is not show business but one where consistent performance and growth are the only things that matter.

The SpiceJet name has been synonymous with everything positive and the commitment of the airline towards its passengers is well known. The improvement of the market share from 17.4% to a whopping 20.4% has indeed been the icing on the cake for the airline in the first quarter of 2013!
